How I Got My Site Relisted Again in Google

February 16th, 2008

How do you feel if your site which was previously listed in Google suddenly dissappeared from the listing?

Angry? Feel like wanting to sue Google? Or start a website called IHateGoogle.com?

Being delisted from Google means you’re losing traffic from the biggest search engine. Many webmasters have tried so hard to be listed again.. with different results, and I’m here to share my experience.

I run a website selling an ebook on how to get website traffic. The ebook was written by a well-known Internet marketer, and I purchased the private label right (PLR) to it. The package came together with the salesletter. I straight forward uploaded the original salesletter without changing a single word in it. After several days, the site was listed in Google.

Several days ago, I looked for that site in Google and I was surprised that it was no longer listed. As far as the site was concerned, I had never used any blackhat method to promote it. Later on I discovered that the reason of delisting might be because it violated Google’s guideline concerning duplicated content.

I started searching for ways how to get my site back in Google, and most of the advices I found on the net were to modify the content and request for reinclusion.

So I started working to make my site listed again in Google. Here are what I did:

1. I installed a WordPress blog and started to post several blog posts.

2. I created a blog with Blogger.com, and posted the blog straight to my server.

3. I rewrite the content. Actually I added my own words before the salesletter just to make it unique.

4. I linked the site from several sites of mine which are still listed in Google.

5. I searched for blogs that talk about topics similar to mine, and posted some comments, and inserted my URL to get backlink.

6. I posted in a forum I regularly visit and included the URL in the signature.

7. I submitted the URL to Google.

Finally I got the result that I wanted: to be relisted again. Here’s the proof:

My site relisted in Google

So, if your site is delisted from Google, don’t panic. If you’ve tried everything and Google still doesn’t want yor site, do not abandon it totally, as you might find other ways to get traffic to your site.
